BOULDER BAY PARK

City's landmark open space designed to keep rustic charm and accommodate year round visitors.
An extraordinary scenic lakeside site nestled along Boulder Bay, was dedicated to the City of Big Bear Lake in 2004. Withers & Sandgren designed the park and prepared construction documents for the City. Shoreline erosion was controlled by defining access points to the water, a new dock for fishing installed and a boat launch ramp created. The existing pine trees were carefully preserved and native alpine plants, tolerant of the cold climate of the San Bernardino Mountain winters, were introduced to meet the City's strict water-conservation guidelines. A new shade pavilion with a view terrace provides an excellent lakeside destination within the park.
